Pilates by Neil Smith

Towards the end of 2009 I began teaching the Pilates system to NHS staff at the Harefield & Royal Brompton Heart Foundation hospitals in Middlesex and Chelsea. Since we began the programme the Occupational Health Department and all Pilates programme participants have confirmed improved posture in the workplace and a feeling of alertness and general well being.

Due to our fast paced, modern lives and increased stress in the workplace, many of us find ourselves with poor posture, repetitive strain injury, neck, back, shoulder and knee injuries due to sitting, bending, twisting and lifting poorly in the workplace.

Whether it's be slouching at our desks, lifting heavy objects or even standing incorrectly, we place incredible stresses and strains on our bodies.

Pilates will functionally help to improve your strength, flexibility, co-ordination and endurance. Importantly, it corrects poor posture and alignment, balance, focus and concentration.
